Offshore assets are unforgiving of fabrication defects, because the cost of correcting anything once it is installed is an order of magnitude higher than correcting it in the yard. Most of the value of offshore inspection is therefore realised onshore, during fabrication.

Fabrication yard inspection

Structural weld inspection, dimensional and alignment control on large assemblies, coating system verification against the specification, and documentation traceability — carried out in the fabrication yard where correction is still straightforward.

Load-out and transport readiness

Verification of sea-fastening and lifting arrangements against the approved lift and transport plan, condition survey before load-out, and photographic record of the asset at the point of transfer of risk.
